Her interest in textiles started at a young age when her grandmother taught her how to knit. Eventually her love of textiles brought her to weaving and thus Pirtti was born. The slow process of making fabric by hand brought a greater appreciation of what goes into making clothing. A benign hand tumor allowed Anne-Marie to take a break from weaving and provided her the opportunity to explore her interests in plant dyes. Learning how to work with plant dyes has brought about a greater interest in circularity within the textile world.
